About Us

The firm of Canter & Francis was founded in 1947 by John Canter of Grimsby and Tom Francis; the father of the present owner Stuart Francis.

Originally trading as Auctioneers, and estate agents the firm now concentrates on the auction trade of business at the sale room on Doncaster Road in Scunthorpe.

The firm specialises in the sale of deceased estates and the other house clearances and has collected from as far afield as Grimsby, Doncaster, Louth, Brigg and of course Scunthorpe.

Over the years the firm has sold numerous unusual items ranging from properties to valuable antiques, motor cars, even a double decker bus and at one time a budgie in a cage.
